Matsutake are found in the mountainous areas of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. This photograph show matsutake packing in a cold store in Chengdu. Mushrooms are trucked to Chengdu from as far away as 1 day's drive from the Lugu area. Matsutake from Tibet are flown to Chengdu, and repacked there for shipment to Japan by air.
