Key Features

Mushroom more or less vase-shaped, the center of the cap sunken or even hollow. Cap red to orange. Surface of cap with prominent scales (unless very young or battered by rain). Underside of cap whitish to yellowish or pale ochre, with veins or wrinkles running down the stalk. Other Features: Medium-sized to fairly large; veins on underside sometimes forming wide, shallow pits; veil, ring, and volva absent; spores ochre.
