Key Features
  • Mushroom more or less vase-shaped, the center of the cap sunken or even hollow.
  • Cap red to orange.
  • Surface of cap with prominent scales (unless very young or battered by rain).
  • Underside of cap whitish to yellowish or pale ochre, with veins or wrinkles running down the stalk.
  • Other Features: Medium-sized to fairly large; veins on underside sometimes forming wide, shallow pits; veil, ring, and volva absent; spores ochre.
