- Cap domed, umbrella-like, or wavy and spreading, the edge not attached to stalk.
- Cap yellow-brown to dark brown, smooth to somewhat wrinkled but not honeycombed with pits.
- Stalk with prominent ribs that extend up underside of cap nearly to edge.
- Stalk stained reddish, pinkish, or burgundy, at least at base.
- Growing on the ground.
- Other Features: Medium-sized to large; cap thin and fragile, much wider than stalk once it has unfurled. Flesh white or with a tinge of yellow.
